How to get your deposit back – and how to lose it

Whilst we have very little input into how you spend your time at Pen y Cae, we do have some rules about what you do when you are about to leave.

First, we expect you to thoroughly sweep out the accommodation, clean the sinks, cutlery, pots & pans and work surfaces and make sure that any rubbish you may have generated is bagged up and taken with you. We will not be responsible for the removal of any rubbish or recycling, and your security deposit will be forfeit if we find any evidence that cleaning and rubbish removal have not been done correctly. Please also note that dropping rubbish bags at the forest gate in the hope that the Council will collect them counts as not removing items from the property.

Second, make sure that any wood fires are extinguished, the gas cooker is fully turned off, all windows and external shutters are fully secured and taps and showers turned off.

Finally, lock the outside security door, having made certain that the keys are not locked in.

PLEASE NOTE: The terms of our lease with Natural Resources Wales includes a total ban on fires outside the property. Any evidence that this has not been adhered to will affect your deposit.

To ensure that all of the above tasks are completed there will be a tick list sheet provided that must be returned with the keys.

And finally, don’t forget to put he keys back into the lockbox, where you picked them up, and scramble the combination on the code.
